PASTOR’S CORNER

CHANGING YOUR LEVEL IN CHRIST:

DEALING WITH TERRITORIAL POWERS AGAINST YOUR NEW LEVEL

REFERENCES: I CORINTHIANS 16: 7-9, ACTS 20: 16, ACTS 21: 15- 17; 27- 30, MATTHEW 23: 37 - 38

I CORINTHIANS 16: 7-9

For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit. But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost. For a great door and effectual is opened unto me and there are many adversaries.

It was Paul’s vision to experience Pentecost and he was willing to make the necessary sacrifice to achieve the vision, even if it meant not seeing certain people for a while. He sought the power of God because a great and effectual door had been opened before him, but there were many adversaries standing in his way.

This was not the first time Paul would be filled with the power of God; however he understood that he needed to increase his power level in order to deal with the adversaries on his way.

This also means that Pentecost did not end in Acts 2. It is still a reality and available to those who can see and access it.

Acts 20: 16

For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

Paul was on his way to Jerusalem, the place of the Pentecost. He hasted there to experience the power of God, and he was not the only one…

Act 21: 15- 17; 27- 30

And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem. There went with us also certain of the disciples of Ceasarea, and brought with them Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge. And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.

He arrived in Jerusalem with other disciples. And, although all of them desired to receive the power of God, adversaries were intent on stopping one man from receiving the Pentecost- Paul.

And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him, crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men everywhere against the people… and they took Paul , and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut…

Brethren, they know you. If you are the one who stands in prayer in your family, household and territory, then be aware that there are powers that know you and are after you.

While in the temple, waiting for Pentecost, out of the multitude, certain men lay hold of him and arrested. They dragged him out of the temple and, while others remained and received the Pentecost, Paul was held captive and, thus unable to achieve his vision of experiencing the power of God.

Matt 23: 37 - 38

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chicken under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

Jesus also had a desire: to gather the children of Jerusalem and cover them. However, the territorial power of that city stood in His way. He laments over the city and sadly, leaves them to desolation.

When Paul, sent by God, arrived at Jerusalem, the same powers that frustrated the vision of Christ, rose up against him.

Like Jesus and Paul, there is a power in your territory frustrating you from fulfilling your divine destiny. This power contends with your helpers and spoils the plans of God for your life. These powers scatter the plans of God for your life and expose you to desolation.

The reason you are the one being bombarded with frustrations is because you are the one sent by God to bring a change. As a result, a signal has been sent by the territorial powers to attack and frustrate you.

Paul was hindered from getting his vision. The same adversaries he sought power to overcome, knowing what would happen if he received Pentecost, frustrated his efforts. You do not have to suffer the same fate. Spoil the powers fighting hard to spoil the plans of God for your life and you will experience the Pentecost.
